One resource I find really useful is Github’s collection of .gitignore files for different programming languages and frameworks.

I find myself referencing it every time I start a new project and is similar to how I like to collect resources to help me bootstrap tsconfig.

Here’s the .gitignore for a node project as an example. It handles both yarn and npm projects - which tells you off the bat that there’s going to be extra information in here that go unused. Even with the “wasted” lines, however, it provides great value. It’s a standard that’s easily tweaked and in that way gets me up and running much more quickly while not locking me into any one way of working. I love things like that.
