The proverbial horse was harder to mount than I’d hoped. So, here I am ~1/2 through the month and having only written three days.

My cousin, who I have corralled into doing NaNoWriMo with me, and I agreed that I’d taken on too much (we’re very soft on me). Trying to do NaNoWriMo while buying a house, not to mention everything else in my life, like a full-time job, a growing list of side projects and topics to explore, cooking, exercise, etc. proved too much for me. The result was that I just didn’t do it.

I want to do it though.

I’ve talked about doing NaNoWriMo for years.

And I really don’t want to wait until next November to get another shot.

So, with the house closed, moving complete and unpacking mostly done, I’ve crossed a big item off my list. Of course, that could mean I get to relax, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, let’s add one right back on! As for what I’m choosing, if this post wasn’t clear enough, it’s NaNoWriMo!

Today I treated like day 1 and sat down to write. I made no where near enough progress to hit the 50k word mark in thirty days (adding only ~500 words, but I wrote. And that’s the goal. Keep writing.

The new plan (because my last plans worked so well) is to write NaNoWriMo as designed… but shifted by two weeks.

Onward.
